Experimental investigation of small-scale shear walls under lateral loads

Abstract Shear walls are critical in designing of reinforced concrete structures against lateral loads. Although various research studies have been conducted on the design shear walls, these were limited by laboratory capacity. This led to inability testing with their full height for high mid-rise walls. Fortunately, progress specimen modeling techniques permitted performing scaled experimental studies. paper presents 11 down walls—with 1/10 scale. The cast investigate number parameters. tested under both monotonic and cyclic specimens showed a behavior close that large-scale wall structural elements, not only loading, but also, loading stiffness degradation energy dissipation behavior. Experimental results compared estimated ACI sectional analysis as well SP-36 great similitude. applicability use presented methodology is tested, order construct test small-scale models full-scale allow better understanding conditions.
